something is really screwed with our public healthcare
Screwed up? Wait until you come to Australia where you can
wait up to 11 months for an operation to be scheduled in the public
system!
I thought Singapore's system was bad... until I came here.
There have been cases where people died waiting for the ambulance
to get their act together and arrive! I think in one
publicised case, it wasn't a case of minutes, but more than an
hour!
And in another highly-publicised case, the
ambulance system failed a paramedic who worked for them.
Public healthcare systems around the world are usually
overstretched and sadly, response cannot be quicker simply because
of cost and resource issues. It's a matter of which countries
are worse off, instead of which country is the 'best' because the
'best' still falls short of public expectations.
